Hi, I'm Kevin
My name is Kevin Keogh, an English teacher from Ireland and the voice behind No Pressure English — a podcast for intermediate and advanced learners who want to improve their English naturally and without pressure.
I’ve spent much of my life in Ireland — studying in Maynooth, where I graduated with a BA in Theology, Ancient Classics and English, before moving to Galway to complete a postgraduate diploma in Business and Accounting.
My path to teaching wasn’t straightforward. After years working at Medtronic in Galway, I took the leap and moved abroad — first to South Korea for a year, then to Italy for two years. Those experiences changed everything.
Living in Italy gave me something I hadn’t expected — a genuine understanding of what it feels like to learn a language as an adult. I’ve had plenty of false starts along the way — German, Spanish, Irish, Korean — moments of high motivation followed by a gradual fading of commitment. Sound familiar?
What changed for me was discovering language learning podcasts. Shows like Italiano Automatico and Easy Italian showed me the power of daily listening — building a habit, training your ear, and letting the language become part of your routine. That magic of thinking in another language, of growing through different stages — from beginner to confident speaker — is something I find genuinely extraordinary.
It shouldn’t be underrated.
I’ve been teaching English since 2016, and I started No Pressure English because I wanted to create the kind of content I wished had existed when I started out on my language learning journey. Interesting topics. Natural conversation. A resource you can come back to again and again — without pressure.
I’m currently based in Ireland and continuing my own language learning journey in Italian and Irish. I know exactly how it feels to be a student. That’s the perspective I bring to every episode.
